Cinnamon Rolls
Dough:
1/4 ounce package yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup scalded milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening or butter
1 tsp salt
1 egg
4 cups flour
Filling:
1/3 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
3 tsp ground cinnamon
Glaze:
4 tbsp melted butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 1/2 tbsp hot water
Directions:
In a really small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Then in a large bowl mix sugar, melted butter, salt, and milk. Then you add half of the flour (2 cups) and mix. Next, you add your yeast mixture. Mix in the remaining flour in and then knead on a floured surface. Place it in a well-greased bowl, cover and let it rise for about an hour so that the dough has time to double in size. Then roll the dough out into a 15 by 9 in. rectangle. Then you mix your filling together in a bowl. (I just put it all in a bowl and put it in the microwave for 20 seconds and then stir it) Then you spread the filling across the dough. Then roll the dough up and cut into about 15 slices. Then you melt butter and spread it across the pan and then sprinkle some cinnamon and sugar over it. Put your slices into the pan and let sit 45 min. to double in size again. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Then you mix the powdered sugar, butter, and vanilla together. Once that is mixed add in the water 1 tbsp at a time. Enjoy!!
